You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?
Let’s be honest, we all love hearing good news, right? Whether it’s a job promotion, scoring a great date, or finally nailing that yoga pose, those moments of pure joy deserve a celebration! But here’s the thing, I used to just take that feeling and move on with my day. Lately, I’ve found so much more power in intentional celebration. I have a little ritual now, and it’s transformed how amazing news feels. Here’s my routine:
- The Victory Squeal: Okay, maybe this is optional, but a little outburst of sheer happiness feels incredible. It releases that burst of excitement and surprise right off the bat. Sometimes, that includes an awkward happy dance too – bonus points if my dog joins in!
- Tell Someone I Love: I immediately have to share the joy! Depending on the news, I’ll grab my partner, call my best friend, or text my mom. Talking to someone who really cares multiplies the feeling.
- Mindful Gratitude: I try to pause and recognize how lucky I am to have this positive thing happen. I might jot down “3 things I’m grateful for” in my notes app – it centers me and makes that good feeling stick.
- A Tiny Treat: This isn’t always about buying myself something. Even blasting my favorite song, making myself a fancy coffee, or taking a walk in the sunshine amplifies that ‘life is good’ feeling.
I realized having a simple routine like this does two big things: it makes the feeling of amazing news way more potent,and it builds anticipation for those little boosts of joy that life brings. It reminds me that there’s always something to celebrate, whether it’s huge or just a minor win.
