Goal of Self Development?
Self development, also known as personal development, is the process of improving oneself through conscious and deliberate actions. It involves identifying areas of strength and weakness and taking steps to enhance one’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Self development can take many forms, including learning new skills, pursuing education and training, seeking out new experiences, and focusing on personal growth and well-being. The ultimate goal of self development is to become the best version of oneself and to achieve one’s full potential. By investing in self development, individuals can increase their confidence, self-awareness, and resilience, which can have a positive impact on their personal and professional lives. It is a lifelong process, and by committing to self development, individuals can continually evolve and grow, leading to a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
Things I wish I knew at 20
What advice would you give to your teenage self?
Do things that excite you. Set goals and master a skill. Be kind and empathetic. Gratitude is the best way to live. Execute and take massive action. Make decisions quickly and change them slowly if at all. Be willing to fail, a lot. Believe in yourself and never, ever, give up.
The Journey of Life
Life is often compared to a journey, as it is a continuous process of growth, change, and exploration. Just like a journey, life has its ups and downs, twists and turns, and unexpected detours. We all have a starting point and a destination, but the path we take to get there can vary greatly. Along the way, we encounter challenges, opportunities, and experiences that shape who we are and who we become. Each step we take, every decision we make, and every interaction we have can have a profound impact on our journey.
The journey of life can be unpredictable, and there may be times when we feel lost, unsure, or overwhelmed. However, by embracing the journey, we can learn to appreciate the process and enjoy the ride. We can learn from our experiences, celebrate our successes, and use our setbacks as opportunities to grow and learn. Ultimately, life is not just about reaching our destination, but it’s also about the experiences we have along the way. By embracing life as a journey, we can learn to live in the present, appreciate the beauty of the moment, and make the most of every step along the way.
Become your goals
If you are reading this, thank you for taking the time to invest in yourself and becoming better. I want to start off by talking about the importance of goals. While achieving goals is important, defining them and becoming the type of person who can achieve them is even more important. Many times, we set lofty goals and then just hope we get there one day. That is a start but not a great way to achieve lofty goals.
Start by defining your values. Things like, what would you want to be said of you at your funeral? Who do you want to be known as? What things are truly important to you in life? One you have defined those things, set some concrete goals to do or become those things. Instead of “Lose weight”, make your goals more specific such as “Lose 10 pounds by June 1st by eating a (defined) diet and getting on a specific training plan.”
Goals play a crucial role in our personal and professional lives, as they provide a clear direction and purpose for our actions. Setting goals helps us to identify what we want to achieve, and it enables us to measure our progress towards our desired outcomes. Without goals, it can be challenging to stay motivated and focused on achieving success. Goals provide a sense of purpose and direction, and they help us to prioritize our time and efforts. By setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals (SMART goals), we can work towards achieving our desired outcomes in a more structured and efficient manner.
In addition to providing direction and motivation, goals also help us to develop important skills and qualities, such as perseverance, resilience, and self-discipline. When we set goals, we are essentially challenging ourselves to grow and develop, both personally and professionally. By striving towards our goals, we learn to overcome obstacles, face our fears, and push beyond our comfort zones. We also develop a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when we achieve our goals, which can boost our confidence and self-esteem. Overall, the process of setting and working towards goals is a critical aspect of personal and professional development, and it can help us to achieve our full potential.
Accountability
First, I am so grateful for every one of you reading this. I am not the best writer in the world but I do have a lot of good and bad experiences I desire to use to help others. I am getting close to my 30th birthday and definitely struggling with my anxiety over this milestone. As I get closer to my birthday, I am realizing a lot things I did not stick with that I should have. Had I had an accountability parter, I truly believe my life would be a lot farther along. With that being said, I hope you have goals and targets for yourself. If not, I would encourage you to stop reading and set some right now. If you already have clear goals and targets, the next step is simply action. Ideas without execution are nothing but ideas.
Find someone to hold you accountable when you struggle to execute on your goals. Maybe a mentor and maybe just a friend but make sure it is someone who will not let you sell yourself short. Having someone to hold you accountable will help to ensure you execute every day and continue to move in the right direction. Often we don’t realize we are slipping until it is too late. Don’t let that happen to you and find an accountability partner. Maybe you can help them accomplish their goals as well.

Vision
Everyone starts somewhere. I started from an overweight and lost kid in 6th grade to a multi-sport athlete by my junior year of college. It all starts with goals and defining what matters to you as an individual. Do you want to compete as a body builder or just be healthier? Are you trying to resolve a specific issue or just be healthier in general? One of the very best things anyone can do when they start their journey in anything is to get incredibly clear on their goals which are quantifiable and time bound. Trust me when I say if you do this well, you will see the most incredible changes of your life.
Let’s look at what makes quality goals. First, better than nothing but needs work would be “Lose weight”. A decent goal would be “lose 20 pounds”. A high quality goal would be “lose 20 pounds by May 10th through ABC nutrition plan and ABC exercise”. See the difference? Getting clear on your vision and how you plan to get their along with having someone to hold you accountable and you are well on your way to great accomplishments. Do you want to be healthier?
While seemingly a very simple question…do you? Have you weighed what you are willing to give up to achieve your goal? Being willing to sacrifice, while often very hard, is something that you need to be willing to do to achieve your health goals. I love cookies but if I ate cookies every time I wanted them, I definitely would not achieve my goals. To make this short, have you actually made the decision and committed to health or are you just sitting on a dream?

Lead yourself to health
Hi friends! Quick post on something I am always thinking about. Mindset. So often people never feel good or find themselves making big changes to their health when their mindset is the only thing stopping them. This is so important. I started my journey to health back when I started high school and I have never looked back since. For me, it all started with a burning desire and a belief I could do it. I believe that is the most important step…belief.
Start with each small step. I started to have a health identity when I started doing small things like taking raw broccoli with me everywhere in case I started to get hungry. I started stretching and doing three pushups randomly. This kept my focused on taking the right actions. That is really all it takes. If you are disciplined to do the small things, your belief will increase and whatever you want will begin to come closer. I like the quote I read in “How to stop worrying and start living.” It said “Our min business is not to see what lies dimly ahead of us but to do what lies clearly at hand.”
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you start to realize how simply possitive changes in heath can begin.

Mentality
I wanted to send out a reminder to be disciplined in the small things. Keep it simple to stay focused and remember to plan at minimum, what you must achieve the next day to feel successful. For some, that might be as simple as having one super healthy meal, just make you know, and hopefully wright it down, the day before. Each small right action builds momentum and confidence. Be forgiving of yourself if you have a bad day but know what you must do to get back on track the very next day. Simple, yet incredibly important to progress and momentum.
A few things I personally do every day to stay disciplined. I keep three things by my bed every night: A water container to drink right before I go to sleep and right when I wake up, a lacrosse ball to roll out my feet first thing in the morning, and my journal as a constant check in each morning and night. These three things are there to be small reminders to stay disciplined in the small things. Trust me, if you have ever read The Compound Effect, they add up.
