For once, a good question

What sacrifices have you made in life?

I make sacrifices every day. I sacrifice when I got to the gym and meal prep instead of watching tv and eating out. I sacrifice friendships that are no longer serving me to pursue my higher purpose. I sacrifice what is comfortable for what helps me grow.

Take an honest look at your life. Did the times you chose to skip the gym or eat something unhealthy help you grow as a person? Discipline involves sacrifice. One of the greatest things I believe you can do is to disappear and work on yourself for 6 months to a year. This is definitely a sacrifice if you do it right but can yield some incredible results

The best sacrifices I have made personally: 1) Quit drinking alcohol 2) Read books and journal over watching tv/video games 3) Meal prep and committing to an hour towards your health every day 4) Setting aside a small amount of each paycheck towards my future 5) Choosing kindness and forgiveness when wronged

Here are two of the best things I know of to start focusing on: 1) Atomic Habits teaches how tiny changes can make a huge impact https://amzn.to/3ItzIST 2) The High Performance Planner helps you live Intentionally https://amzn.to/3pZBEfB

I laugh at these prompts but still answer

Are you a leader or a follower?

Define leader and follower. A leader could be the janitor to some. A follower could be the VP. But wait, there’s more! I am a leader in that I lead myself to cultivate discipline and principles. I am also a follower because I am bound by the rules of my job if I wish to keep it and the laws of the state if I wish to not be arrested or fined.

Take a turn from that. Everyone who stands up for what is right, ethical, and moral, is, is many respects a leader. A leader cultivates their skills and acts with courage.

Only execution matters

What’s one small improvement you can make in your life?

Change your life. Learn to make decisions with speed. It is easy to spend time learning and planning but that doesn’t matter without application. Learn a principle then immediately find a way to execute on it. Don’t spend all your time deliberating. Make a hard and fast decision to take what you learned and apply it. Even something small like what to eat can be a great way to improve your decision making skills. Please, don’t live your life in indecision.

Love the process

I spend so much time grinding and hoping I get to a certain place so that I can be happy. I am realizing that, if you don’t love the process of achieving your goals and becoming that kind of person, you wont truly enjoy the result. At least, not for long. So here is my challenge to you: Do something where you love the process more than the end result. Trust me, live will be much more fulfilling.

How is this a constructive question?

What public figure do you disagree with the most?

Why are we starting with disagree? This is immediately a negative question. I support certain public figures more than others but starting with a negatively phrased question is not constructive. More positivity. What public figure do you agree with the most and what values do they embody that you agree with? Not perfect, but a better question.

Keep Going!

Here’s to all the people who didn’t believe in you. Here’s to all the times you chose to work on yourself and stay disciplined instead of giving in to temptation. Here’s to all the times you refused to give up and stay away from negative influences. Even if you still seem so far away from your goals, embrace the journey and keep going 💪🏼

Knowledge executed is power

Write about a time when you didn’t take action but wish you had. What would you do differently?

Change comes from decisions and execution, not simply knowledge. Really, there are times in almost every day where I can think of action I feel like I should have taken. A phone call on lunch, a short walk outside, or some risk I should have taken. The biggest thing I wish I would have started sooner was to focus on working on myself. Particularly reading, serving, and networking. I truly believe those three things will change anyones life for the better. I started seeking networking opportunities in my city, focusing on the value I was providing, and picking up specific books, particularly Mans Search for Meaning and How to Win Friends and Influence People (links below if interested). Finding the right people in my life combined with developing skills to serve them has proved to be the greatest action I have taken. Thank you for taking the time to read this and invest in yourself.
